We have a number of opportunities for Drama teachers to become visiting examiners on our popular new specification. This is a great opportunity to review and mark the work of other schools' performances - building your expertise and knowledge of the new specification.
Our new specification gives greater focus on the practical; giving students the opportunity to do what they like best - they can participate in performance as a performer, designer (lighting, sound, set, costume, puppets) or a performer and designer. As a visiting examiner you will be provided with training and guidance on all of these aspects which can really help to support your teaching.
Schools can have their performances reviewed from November 2017 through to May 2018. During this time you will make around five school visits - the number will vary according to the cohort in your allocation. There will be some travel involved and you will book appointments with schools and observe students in their live performance, assessing every candidate for a variety of disciplines within the same performance. On average, an examiner would take three to five hours per day to complete their visit.
You will be responsible for logging your scores and observations and uploading your data onto the AQA portal.
You will receive an hourly rate of £15.40 an hour, travel expenses, a responsibility fee and standardisation fee. Your school will also be provided with a teacher release voucher to help to cover the cost of your absence from school.
Who we are looking for We are looking for teachers who are currently, or are about to be, teaching the AQA specification for either GCSE Drama or A-level Drama and Theatre Studies. You will have a minimum of three terms teaching experience of GCSE or A-level Drama within the last three years (if you are not a current practising teacher).
You will have a passion for your subject and thrive when working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will need an internet enabled home based Windows PC for recording your marks. Further details on our criteria can be found here.
