About this event

The intensive Grade Booster workshop format is designed to:

  • Refine and sharpen key exam technique for the Unit 3 exam
  • Build confidence in the essential assessment skills

The BTEC National Business Grade Booster Workshop combines:

  • Four hours of intensive large-group tuition by our experienced BTEC National Business presenter team
  • An enlarged workshop booklet containing all the session content, extension activities, guidance on exam technique and other essential revision materials designed for students to help them prepare for Unit 3.

Learning outcomes

WORKSHOP SESSION DESCRIPTIONS

Session One - 'Perfecting Personal Finance'
This session looks at the key aspects of the Personal Finance specification and the importance of writing in context when answering examination questions. There will be a specific focus on the 2 - 6 mark questions ensuring exam technique is perfected.

Session Two - Mastering Business Finance
This session looks at the key components of the Business Finance specification and addresses the importance of exam technique when answering the 2 - 6 mark questions. Students will be provided with a wide range of exam style questions to allow them to get to grips with the key essentials of section B

Session Three - 'Nailing the numbers'
This session looks at the range of calculation questions students can expect to face on section B of the examination. A chance to pick up some time saving tips, improve accuracy and ensure that maximum marks are achieved on this aspect of the paper.

Session Four - 'Become an expert with exam technique'
This session will tackle the 8, 10 & 12 mark questions in detail for both section A and B. Students will be given useful advice on how to structure their answers to maximise marks and gain an invaluable insight into the mind of the examiner.

Students will be provided with a detailed workbook containing extension activities using exam style questions, sample student answers including examiner annotation for a range of unit 3 questions, examination tips, a formula sheet and key term glossary for the full unit 3 specification - essential for thorough examination preparation.

Teachers will also access to a worked answer handout for the extension activities.

Course package

Each student place is just £25 (+VAT) for the day of tuition and comprehensive workshop resources. Teacher places are free of charge if bringing a party of five or more students.

She has taught in schools, colleges and universities both in the UK and overseas, playing a pivotal role in supporting colleagues to drive improvements in teaching and learning. She has also worked as an educational consultant, delivering sessions for Ofsted and further education colleges in the UK. Michelle has worked for a number of awarding bodies taking the role of examiner, external verifier and centre quality reviewer.

    Deborah Faulkner

    Deborah has worked in both Secondary and Further Education for over 22 years, teaching Business and Economics at both Key Stage 4 and 5. In addition to being an experienced Vocational and A Level teacher and examiner, Deborah has also had senior roles as Faculty Head, Assistant Principal and Quality Nominee.
