Fair trade learning resources | Beyond the Bike @ tutor2u

Beyond the Bike

Stuart & Claire’s 2015/16 tandem trip from Canary Wharf to China

Supporting Stuart's blog post this week on fair trade and your mobile phone, here is a selection of classroom resources to support your teaching of fair trade.

Firstly, here's a reminder of some of our RES-supported lesson resources on conlict minerals and Fairtrade published earlier in the Beyond the Bike project:

  • Conflict Minerals and Development - this resource encourages students to explore the impact of the search for lucrative minerals in the conflict-ridden country of the DRC
  • Fairphone Analysis - a business focused resource exploring the business model and opportunities for the Fairphone
  • Fairphone Factsheet - a supporting resource that could be used as the basis for a data response

Secondly, here are two great lesson-starter clips that could be used to stimulate classroom discussion on the topic of fair trade:

TEDx talk - Fair Trade Starts with You!
TEDx talk - Ethical Consumerism and the Power of Having a Choice
Marginal Revolution University - How Does Fair Trade Help Poor Workers
